The town of Pelham is located in the centre of Canada’s Niagara Region, just south of St. Catharines. Covering a land area of more than 126 square kilometers, Pelham is home to a population of about 17,000 people.
Pelham was formed in 1970, unifying the five historical communities of Fonthill, Ridgeville, Effingham, North Pelham and Fenwick into a single town, while combining farming with growing commercialism. This area is known for the famous Comfort Maple Tree, estimated to be about 500 years old and Canada’s oldest surviving sugar maple. Short Hills Provincial Park is a wildlife preserve located along Pelham’s northern border. Pelham has also seen a growing number of golf courses, the oldest dating back to 1922.
